End of 2009
Sarit was homeless for almost two years. Sima took her to her home while she was four and a half months pregnant. Later she went to Jerusalem to another shelter, and not long ago she rented a small apartment in a suburb of Tel Aviv. Due to her history been a drug addict and alcoholic her children were spread out in different places. Sarit is now clean and in this last year was transformed in many ways. At the last week of 2009 she gave birth to a baby girl. The social worker said that they will not give her the baby to raise her until they will see her place and if she is able to take care of her daughter. The night before the meeting we went to her little apartment and filled it with furnitures for her baby and lots of clothes. When they both entered the apartment the next morning, they were both shocked to see the abundant blessing she now have for her baby. She called us crying after the social worker left, and thanked us for all this provision. All through our time with Sarit we could see her maternity feelings and her love for her children. God is opening a door of hope for her to start fresh. Please pray for her and for the family to get together and renew their relationships. Pray for her salvation since she heard so much about the Lord and saw Him performing miracles in her life.
Michal got involved in prostitution at the age of 15; After 3 years Michal broke the cycle of prostitution. The day we met her she was visiting a friend who is still in prostitution. Michal received our card and said that she is pregnant. It was an amazing time when you know that it was a divine appointment. As we shared and counseled her she decided to keep her baby. The hardest part was to see her returning to prostitution few weeks later as a pregnant woman. She continued until the end of her term. When she gave birth her mother called us for help with baby clothes. We traveled to Dimona in the south of Israel to bless her. See the picture of Dani, a beautiful baby boy. Please pray for Michal to be able to break the cycle of prostitution and for baby Dani to be protected and loved.
Beginning of 2010
On the 1th day of 2010 Dafna who is Ethiopian Jew gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl. What a beginning of 2010. We have had a long journey with Dafna all through her pregnancy. This week we went to Jerusalem to pick her up to our shelter and then a day after the bridge was made with her mother and the rest of her family. Now she is there at her mother's home.
We had 35000 Jews from Ethiopia immigrated to Israel from 1981-1991. In a report that was published 3 days ago in a major newspaper; it said that the highest percentage of abortion in Israel is now performed by the Ethiopian. The reason of these abortions is getting pregnant out of wedlock. It is a shame and disgrace to the family in this community to a point of even murder. Dafna's brother threatened to kill her because of the pregnancy and because of that we had to take her to another shelter in Jerusalem. It is so encouraging to say that relationships are restored and she can start her motherhood in peace and joy.
Dafna shared with me about her cousin who is planning to have an abortion and gave me her phone number. As I talked to Rachel the night before the abortion was planned she finally at the end of a long conversation and counseling decided not to have the abortion. The next morning she canceled her appointment in the hospital. Praise God. Please pray for Rachel who is 3 months pregnant now. Please pray for us for more opportunities to reach these group of women that came from Ethipia and think that the only relief for their pregnancy out of wedlock is abortion.
Adiel is from a kibbutz in the north of Israel. When she got pregnant her parents threatened her that they will throw her out of the kibbutz and from that point she received letters from the kibutz claiming that she can not live there any more and have to leave her apartment. She called me crying in the middle of the night not knowing what to do. The kibutz manager, social worker parents all agreed to talk to me and share the problem. I must admit that our cases getting harder. Adiel eventually after a long process received from national insurance income due to her psychological problems. At this point the lawyer of the kibutz defended her, and according to the law they can not kick her out. Will she be able to raise her child? We still do not know. We know now that she is protected and safe in her home. We know too that the authorities are watching her carefully. Please pray for her and the baby in this situation.
Outreaches We want to thank Adith Slabbekoon from Holland and Bill and Kendra from the U.S.A and others, for volunteering in our outreaches. Thank God for this people that cares for the lost and understands that in order to reach them we need to go out and meet them where the people are.
Why do we do these outreaches?
Suzi called to tell me that if it was not for the pamphlet that she received in the street against abortion she would never considered keeping her daughter liran who is 9 months old now. She had a date for the abortion and all was planed and after receiving the pamphlet she changed her mind. Now she want to give the pamphlets to her friends that consider abortion. This testimony is not the first one we heard, we had so many of these testimonies through the years. Our sewing is not for vain and in the right time it bears fruits.
Many are asking about the documentary with the Polish T.V that was filmed. We received a copy of it and had to ask for correction in several places. At the moment they are still working on it.
